Petition against decision of St Joseph’s College to have exams offline

Hi all

This is regarding the decision made by the management of St Joseph's college (Autonomous) to conduct offline exams from 17th November onwards.

Do you feel unsafe to come to college? Do you feel stressed about this decision? Do you have issues which make it extremely difficult for you to attempt the exams on campus? If yes, then this is why you should sign this petition.

The following are the real issues, and these are why you should sign this petition:

1. Those who are residing outside India, would have to face a lot of issues to come back to India like complicated and expensive covid test procedures, irregular flights and several safety issues 

2. Majority of the students depend on public transport to arrive at college on a daily basis. Considering the current situation, everybody is scared to use the public transport as there are hundreds of people in the city who use it everyday and increases exposure to the corona virus.

3. To those who depended on hostel and several PGs in Bangalore are now really afraid to use the same facilities as it is extremely dangerous.

4.We all realise that the college offers an option to write the exams when it re opens along with the 4th semester examinations. But there are people who are already stressed about backlogs and won't be able to take the additional weight and even otherwise, it is a huge impact on the mental health of students.

5. The letter of undertaking is not clear regarding the time at which the exams will be taken again to those not appearing for the November end sem examinations and proposes to collect extra fees from these students.

6. We would finally like to question the management for taking up ONLINE EXAMS instead. When other institutions like MCC, Kristy Jayanti and ESPECIALLY SJCC are having their exams online, why can’t SJC do the same?

We would like to make it perfectly clear that we are not against conducting exams. Everyone is just concerned about their health and their responsibility for the safety of their families. Many of us have suffered terrible losses because of the virus and not planning on losing anymore! We hope you sign this petition so that none of us have to go through any difficulties and stress because of the offline exams.
