An invitation to LTM Abu Dhabi to join Social Solidarity By reducing 30% of the 3rd term School Fees
Dear LTM ,
In this worldwide crisis of the emerging epidemic of Corona virus COVID 19, the UAE is more committed than ever to help its citizen , despite multiple challenges , therefore all sectors have demonstrated a collective effort to support people and to participate in supporting the collective effort led by the country in facing the current challenge and the repercussions that followed on various Economic sectors and worldwide
All of us saw many educational institutions by providing a support package for parents of students of their affiliated schools, by applying a discount on the tuition fees for the third semester In varying proportions, according to academic level , and reducing for school fees for the next academic year, in addition to exemption from registration fees and the paying of expenses for the next academic year .
The Lycée Theodore Monod is asking every parents to pay the full fees of the 3rd Term where it is hiding behind a statement from ADEK saying parents should pay full fees to support their school, but ADEK later reviewed their statement and urged schools to join the social solidarity by providing some financial reliefs to parents in this difficult time; to this date we Parents did not see any action towards this step to relieve financial burden on parents during this crisis !
Parents are demanding a discount school fees and LTM are talking only about solidarity fund for families that are affected the most!!
When LTM says that parents should pay full fees for two reason:
First “To Ensure Continuing Distance Education”, we have here to says: that what should happen, its rights of our children who have no guilt in this crisis, and finally this which the Ministry of Education and the leaders of this country request implement it!!
Second “Pay teachers ’salaries” If we talk about MS stage only, we will find the following facts:
- there was No virtual classes for English and Arabic, so Kids did not listen, speak and no interactions with teacher and class mate.
- Virtual French classes are not enough: 1 live lesson of max 20 minutes and only 3 times a week, when the target is that kids to interact and speak French daily ……. We are far from the parent’s target!
Otherwise what are we paying for? It’s so easy to find on the net the appropriate KG’s program plus worksheets for our kids if we want that.
- The salaries of many families have been reduced from their employers even by 50%, while others have been asked to take unpaid leave or terminated in the worst scenario.
- LTM should have been aware of the percentage of the parents in which both parents work and have no time to teach children, especially those who return to their homes late.
- Parents are currently teaching, buying office supplies which is not low-cost such computers, printers, ink, etc.. All of those expenses are new to the family budget!
- The most important point and let us be honest towards ourselves and recognize that children are not at the same levels and scientific abilities in kindergarten even if LTM was sending lessons, many children never respond to parents who don’t have the pedagogy of the teachers and do not show any progress in the French language especially in this age 3-5 years
Children not taken e-learning seriously, how can parents who have not practiced vocational education as a profession to be teachers and they don’t not have the correct way to communicate an idea or interpretation like a teacher
- Also, the parents who only speaks English or French language are facing many problems and difficulties in teaching languages they do not speak!
With all due respect to the school and the teachers, but all of this is unfair and adding to the stressful and the struggle of the parents
We highly value our teachers, appreciate their efforts and professionalism, and appreciate that they face the same pressures that we are facing with our children in addition to the burden of communicating with the parents and their supporting for new experience for everyone (students, parents, and teachers) in distance education.
We are adhering to pay the LTM fees despite all these circumstances, but we are asking from LTM (30% Reduction for the 3rd term School Fees) to emulate other schools which waived service, electricity, cleaning, security, and the other extra school activities ….
We wish our school to cooperate with us and make some concessions, and it will not be the only ones to waive part of their profits as the whole world is facing these huge economic losses because of this Pandemic COVID -19.
We are looking forward for the school board comprehension and their social implication on this crisis.
