Petition to West Sepik National Members of Parliament - Law & Order and Development Issues

Law and Order problem comprising the spate of targeted armed hold ups, attack and murder of innocent West Sepik citizens using both the Sepik Coastal Highway and Sepik Inland Highway has escalated significantly over the last twenty (20) years. This problem is now deeply entrenched, making the usage of both Sepik Highways extremely unsafe for all West Sepik Citizens travelling to Maprik and Wewak to sell agricultural commodities, buy essential goods and access vital services. There appears no end in sight to this chronic problem.

The plight of West Sepik Citizens is clearly demonstrated in light of the most recent killings, all happening in less than one year:

1. Late Ernest Pokua Nateleo of Yakamul Village, Aitape District. Gunned down along Sepik Coastal Highway at Banak Village on 22nd March 2021.
2. Late Hillary Bakaman of Yankok LLG, Nuku District. Gunned down along Sepik Inland Highway at Maringei Kunai, Yangoru Saussia District on 5th October 2020.
3. Late Timothy Miroi Jnr of Malol Village, Aitape. Gunned down along Sepik Coastal Highway along the Makopin – Smain section of the highway on 29th June 2020.
4. Late Tarcicious Owem Manbo of Yankok, Nuku District. Gunned at Warapipe section of Sepik Inland Highway (date TBA).

and countless other West Sepik citizens who have indiscriminately, succumbed to the same fate including being; murdered, stabbed, slashed, butted with weapons, robbed and raped.
